Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS)

An atomic absorption Spectrophotometer is a chemical analytical apparatus to determine the presence and concentration of various metals in solution. The method is based on absorption of high energetic radiation in an atom, which occurs at a specific wavelength for each metal.

This method can be used for each metal which can be present in pigments or other components, as calcium, magnesium, aluminium, zinc, iron and barium, but also heavy metals as lead, cobalt, nickel, cadmium, arsenicum, chromium, etc.
