Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS)
An Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer is a chemical analysis instrument capable of determining the presence and concentrations of numerous metals within a solution. The method is based on the absorption of high-energy radiation within an atom, which occurs at a specific wavelength for each metal.
This method is suitable for all metals that may be present in pigments or other substances, ranging from calcium, magnesium, and aluminum to zinc, iron, and barium, as well as heavy metals such as lead, cobalt, nickel, cadmium, arsenic, chromium, etc.
