Chemical analysis

The laboratory is capable of performing analyses of paint and paint-related products. To this end, it is equipped with various instruments, including an FT-IR (Fourier Transform Infrared) spectrophotometer for the determination of binders, a UV-VIS spectrophotometer for the determination of titanium dioxide content, an AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer) for the determination of pigments and fillers, a GC-MS (Gas Chromatograph – Mass Spectrometer) for the determination of solvents and PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons), among others, and various smaller measuring devices.

Furthermore, parameters such as the sand/cement ratio, amine value, epoxy value, acid value, and hydroxyl value of binders/paints are measured. Volume solids determinations are carried out in accordance with ISO 3233 and ASTM D2697. In addition, emission measurements are performed on paints and sheet materials (including formaldehyde).
