Pre-treatment and application

A coating system only performs optimally if the pre-treatment and application have been carried out correctly in the prescribed manner.

In this regard, the Nebest COT laboratory regularly conducts research into, among other things:

  • Surface cleanliness (visual according to ISO 8501 and ISO 8502 and, for example, measuring chloride content using the Bresle test)
  • Surface roughness (ISO 8503; Ra and Rz values, Testex tape, roughness comparator)
  • Characterization of blasting abrasives (ISO 11127; particle size distribution, moisture content, conductivity, soluble salts, bulk density)
  • Effect of pre-treatment
  • Chloride content in concrete
  • Moisture content
  • Mixing ratio
  • Overspray
  • Drying times
  • Pot life (ISO 9514)
  • Consumption
  • Streaking
  • Shriveling
  • Orange peel effect
  • Sagging

The Nebest COT laboratory has its own facility to carry out these investigations, which includes brush and roller application capabilities.
